Novotel Tasmania

A new Novotel hotel in the heart of Hobart, a challenging project which pushed the boundaries of a conventional façade by introducing intersecting angled stone faces to create focal points and frame windows.

The Original specified sandstone façade was upgraded to 12mm Consentino Dekton, with a sandstone surface, enabling larger more impressive panels to be installed.

The result is a beautiful façade which pays homage to the existing architectural materials being used around the city scape of Hobart.

DC Tech is proud of all the hard work, dedication of all involved in this ambitious project come to life.

Products & Application

Fischer undercut anchors were used to conceal the mechanical attachment points on the rear of the panels. Each panel intricately positioned and supported by the Nvelope NV3 sub-framing system.  The complex façade demanded a mixture of cladding zone depths, ranging between 75mm to 350mm.

About Nvelope NV3

NV3 is the Nvelope system for mechanical concealed / secret fix cladding applications. Secured using hangers and undercut, stud anchors or screws to provide a concealed rear fixing. Horizontal carrier profiles are fixed to our vertical profiles. Rainscreen panels are hung from and secured to the horizontal profiles with adjustable hangers. Nvelope ‘T’ and ‘L’ profiles are fixed using Nvelope ‘helping hand’ support brackets, fixed through a series of fixed and sliding points. Nvelope fixed point brackets absorb both vertical and dead loads. Nvelope bracket spacing is determined by cladding options such as the dimensions and weight of the facade cladding, local wind loads, cladding zone and substrate. Nvelope sliding point brackets absorb wind loading and allow for expansion and contraction.

About Fischer Anchors

The DCT Fischer ACT System opens up the way for effortless and cost-efficient design of attractive, complex façades. The technology offers several times higher ultimate loads than conventional fixings. Because anchor positioning can be optimised, the bending moment within the panel is reduced by about 50% when compared to traditional systems.
